What is a PlayStation Network gift card?

A PlayStation Network (PSN) gift card is a prepaid code that adds funds to your PlayStation Store wallet, which you can then spend on games, add-ons, and subscriptions. If it's available on PlayStation Store, you can purchase it with a gift card - including PlayStation Plus memberships, game add-ons, virtual currency and pre-orders. The card is often labelled a "PlayStation Store gift card"; the two names refer to the same product.

What can you buy with a PSN gift card?

You can buy almost anything sold on the PlayStation Store, including full PS5 and PS4 games, DLC and season passes, in-game currency, movies, and PlayStation Plus memberships. Pre-orders are also supported, so you can reserve and pre-load a game before release using gift card funds. Funds land in your wallet, so they work like store credit across the whole storefront

Can you buy PlayStation Plus with a PSN gift card?

Yes - a PSN gift card can pay for any PlayStation Plus tier: Essential, Extra, and Premium (called Deluxe in regions without cloud streaming). You redeem the card to your wallet first, then buy the subscription; at checkout the system uses your wallet balance first, and if it isn't enugh you pay the difference with another method.

Are PSN gift cards region-locked?

Yes - PSN gift cards are tied to one PlayStation Store region and only work on an account registered to that same region. Sony declines a code that doesn't match the country set on your account, and because the account region is fixed at signup, the workaround is a separate account registered to the card's region. Always match the card's region to the account before buying.

Do PSN gift cards expire?

Standard PlayStation Store gift cards do not expire, and once redeemed the wallet funds stay on your account. However, some promotional and PlayStation Plus subscription vouchers do carry an expiry date printed on the voucher, and expired promotional codes are not reinstated.

Can you get cash back or a refund from a PSN gift card?

No - PSN gift card funds cannot be converted to cash, and any leftover wallet balance stays as store credit. Wallet funds are permanently attached to the account they were redeemed on and cannot be moved to another account, so there's no undo after redemption. Sign in to the account you actually play on before entering the code.

Is a PSN gift card the same as a PS Plus card?

Functionally, yes for most buyers - a PSN gift card adds flexible wallet credit you can spend on anything, including any PS Plus tier, whereas older dedicated PS Plus cards applied only to a subscription.

Can you combine multiple PSN gift cards?

Yes - you can redeem several gift cards to the same wallet and the balances stack, letting you save up for a larger purchase like an annual PS Plus plan. Each code is redeemed separately, and the combined credit is spent automatically at checkout.

How long does it take to receive and redeem a PSN gift card?

Digital PSN codes from online sellers are typically delivered within minutes of payment, and redemption itself is near-instant. Once you confirm the 12-digit code, funds appear in your PSN wallet within seconds and are ready to spend
