The developers at Cyberwave describe Solarpunk as a cozy survival-craft game that deliberately avoids stressing the player. All progression comes from building, farming, crafting, and exploration — never from fighting.

Yes. Solarpunk supports online co-op for up to 4 players. Each player has their own inventory and their own personal airship. Groups can build together on a shared island or develop separate areas independently. There are no competitive elements — the co-op experience is entirely collaborative. The game is also fully playable solo with no content locked behind multiplayer.

No — cross-play is not supported at launch. All players in a co-op session must be on the same platform. Cyberwave is a two-person development studio, and cross-play was not feasible for the initial release. The developers have not ruled it out as a future update, but nothing has been confirmed.

Energy and automation are at the heart of Solarpunk's gameplay loop. You generate power from three renewable sources: sunlight (solar panels), wind (windmills), and water. Power is stored in batteries and distributed via cables or wirelessly to gadgets and automated systems. Automation tools — including the Automatic Drill, Automatic Magnet Fisher, transport drones, switches, and production chains — let you automate resource gathering, crop watering, and harvesting, freeing you up to explore while your base runs itself.

3. First-person airship exploration — each player builds and pilots their own airship to travel between floating sky islands, a feature unique to this game in the genre.

Solarpunk was created by Cyberwave, a tiny German indie studio — built for most of its development by just two people. It is published by rokaplay, based in Darmstadt, Germany. The game was originally crowdfunded via a 2023 Kickstarter campaign that raised €305,266 from 6,312 backers — roughly ten times its €30,000 goal. Development began years before that, with multiple release date delays before the final June 8, 2026 launch, announced at the Triple I Initiative Showcase in April 2026.
