Super Mario Odyssey is a three-dimensional adventure-platform game released for the Switch console. The game was developed by Nintendo, which also stood behind all previous installments of the series.
Story
According to the traditions of the series, players take the role of a plumber named Mario, who must save the beloved Princess Peach. This time, our love is threatened by forced marriage with Bowser, the main villain of the whole series. The plot here is just an excuse for fun, and the script does not play a significant role. This time the entire action is not only taking place in the fairy-tale Mushroom Kingdom known from previous installments. Some adventures in Super Mario Odyssey are set in an alternative world which resembles the real one.
Switch Super Mario Odyssey Gameplay
In terms of mechanics, the Switch Super Mario Odyssey released is an evolution of solutions from previous installments of the series. This three-dimensional platformer allows you to explore locations using the hero's acrobatic abilities, collect items, avoid traps, and fight enemies by jumping on their heads. Now and then, we also have to face mighty bosses. While playing, Mario travels many different levels, such as cities, deserts, villages, and forests. This time, the maps are enormous and are characterized by sandbox nature, providing exceptional freedom of exploration. Also, the main character's hat is exciting, which is a lively character who can give access to specialized skills.
Reception
Since its first release, Super Mario Odyssey game received many positive reviews and awards. Players mostly value its phenomenal level design and variety of worlds, each with different mechanics and creatures to defeat. What is more, in 2017 game received Best of Gamescom award and Best Action/Adventure game award.
