The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a single‑player open‑world action RPG developed by CD PROJEKT RED. Become Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, explore the war‑torn Continent, face dangerous creatures, and search for Ciri. On September 29, 2026, the game receives its free Remastered upgrade, bringing enhanced visuals, combat, and traversal to existing owners, alongside a brand‑new native version on Nintendo Switch 2 .
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt combines third‑person action combat, exploration, role‑playing systems, quests, and investigation. Geralt carries a steel sword for human opponents and a silver sword for monsters, while Witcher Signs provide useful magical abilities during combat, and players can prepare potions, oils, and other equipment to gain an advantage against specific enemies. Beyond combat, the game encourages exploration of its large open environments, letting players undertake monster contracts, discover settlements and hidden locations, complete side quests, collect equipment, craft useful items, and interact with characters throughout the Continent, with many quests carrying choices whose consequences become apparent later in the adventure.
Geralt of Rivia is searching for Ciri, his adopted daughter and a powerful young woman pursued by the supernatural riders known as the Wild Hunt. His journey takes him across a Continent devastated by war, where personal conflicts, political struggles, monsters, and ancient forces are closely connected, and frequent opportunities arise to decide how Geralt responds to difficult situations, shaping individual characters, quests, relationships, and wider events. All owners can now experience the acclaimed expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost, while a brand‑new third expansion, Songs of the Past, sends Geralt back to the Path in the northern region of Letten, arriving in 2027.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt presents a detailed dark fantasy world inspired by European folklore and medieval environments, with landscapes ranging from the swamps and battlefields of Velen to the crowded streets of Novigrad and the rugged islands of Skellige. Distinctive monster designs, detailed environments, cinematic conversations, character animation, and atmospheric lighting establish the game's mature and often dangerous fantasy atmosphere, further enhanced in the upcoming Remastered edition with upgraded visuals, improved monster behaviors, and stunning fidelity across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the new native Nintendo Switch 2 release .
