How to activate:
- Log in to Customer Connect.
- Click on "Products and Accounts", then on "Product Registration".
- Enter your serial number or license key in order to register them.
- Download the software from HERE.
Vmware vCenter Server 8 Essential is:
- Vmware vCenter Server 8 Essential is a kit designed for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that are new to virtualization.
- The kit includes vCenter Server unlike other vSphere versions where the license for vCenter Server must be purchased separately.
- The version of vCenter Server included with vSphere Essentials and Essentials Plus is called “vCenter Server for Essentials”.
- vCenter Server for Essentials has feature limitations similar to Foundation.
- When bundled with vSphere Essentials, vCenter Server for Essentials allows for management of up to three vSphere ESXi hosts, with up to two physical CPUs each.
- There is no support for vMotion or vSphere High Availability with vSphere Essentials.
- The creation of datacenters, clusters, etc. are available but migrations to other hosts would require a “cold migration” or powered off VM prior to migrating.
