The game was created with the help of people well-known among NASCAR enthusiasts such as Ken Squire, Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, and Kevin Harvick.
The game offers a wide selection of powerful cars, teams, and famous drivers. During the gameplay, players can take part in a variety of popular NASCAR competitions such as NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Xtreme Drift Series, or Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. Similarly to previous games of the series, Heat 5 offers a realistic driving model with a huge selection of customizable options in order to satisfy every player.
The main mode of the gameplay is the Carrier Mode in which the player takes the role of the team's manager and his job is to lead it to the top. What's important, strategic and logistics decisions are almost equally mattering as the races. This time, the managing elements of the game have been greatly improved and they have much more impact on the gameplay in general. Players can also choose from other, lest engaging modes such as traditional Quick Race, or numerous Challenges. There is also a testing mode, in which players can practice their skills on a specific track and find the best way to achieve the best results. In addition to single-player modes, the game has many features supporting eSport. There will be online qualifications organized regularly, during which players will compete with each other and their results will be updated on the scoreboard on a regular basis.
