In this science-fiction-themed environment, you will have to decide the future of humanity. Humankind suffered and struggled to recover after the collapse of the present-world societies. An uncertain future laid before us, but there was still hope. Nations from all around the world staked everything on deep space travel and studies of the universe. Now, it is time to figure out a new way of survival and development.
A fresh start for humankind
You will be charting a new beginning for our entire race. Set up a civilization in space and manage it as best you can. Step into the unknown and dictate the ultimate path your civilization will pursue. You will research new technologies, travel through space and colonize alien planets. Make difficult decisions and create solace for your people!

Begin your adventure
In Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth, unlike previous installments of the series, you do not choose from historical empires led by historical figures; instead, you decide which sponsor backs your space voyage. Choose from 8 different sponsors and establish your cultural identity. Decide what kind of space shuttle you would like to use and customize your own civilization. The choice will affect your people, so be wise!
Colonize alien planets
Travel through space and come across different planets which will provide you with important resources. There are dangers lurking there awaiting you! Discover new species, tame them, and even genetically modify those alien creatures. Build magnificent cities, establish trading routes, and learn about the history of the planets.
Research and development
Decide what path your civilization will pursue. Choose from three main themes and fulfil the objectives to be the most advanced civilization out there. You will need to put your trust in advanced technology though. Face difficult, non-linear decisions and progress even further into the future.
