Key features:
The ultimate South Park gameVoiced by the actors from the show and perfectly replicating its cut-out animation style, The Stick of Truth remains true to its roots. With vast archives of the show at their disposal, including ideas which never made it to the show, Obsidian had plenty of assets to work with. The game feels immediately familiar to the fans.
Irreverent humour
What is South Park game without its dirty and painfully direct sense of humour? The Stick of Truth is written by the show's creators supported by Obsidian's writer. The trio of writers made sure to create a juicy salad of jokes expected of South Park, with a solid serving of mockery towards game industry and tropes. Classic characters return, as disturbing, funny, and offensive (and various mix thereof) as ever, from Mr Hankey to Jesus himself.
The Stick of Truth turn-based gameplay
SP: The Stick of Truth features a turn-based combat reminiscent of the Final Fantasy games with a twist. Each action requires additional input, keeping the player engaged instead of just watching characters execute a selected action. From rhythm-based songs to timing-sensitive powerful farts, the game keep you on your toes like no other turn-based game. The array of abilities is sufficient to keep anyone engaged. Magical farts, support items, summoning of various characters, special attacks granted by classes. Between the New Kid and his companions (drafted from the show's regulars, especially the main cast) the game offers a flatulent but deep combat system.
Thematic inventory
In theme with the subject matter, The Stick of Truth has just right kind of items. Between wooden swords, golf clubs, gas lighters, bathrobes and oven mitts, the inventory feels exactly as makeshift as can be expected from equipment gathered by kids and clueless adults. Add to that an upgrade system involving often outlandish patches for armor and strap-ons for weapons and the inventory and progression systems is a perfect fit in the South Park world.
Fully mapped-out town
For the first time in history, South Park became fully and consistently mapped. So wobble your New Kid across the fully fleshed-out town and visit your favourite places from the show. They are all waiting for you.
Classes for additional flavour
South Park: The Stick of Truth offers four classes at character creation: Fighter, Mage, Thief, and Jew, master of Jew-Jitsu. Each class comes with special abilities and irreverent attitude towards equipment specialisations, allowing the players to mix and match the items as they please, barring mighty class-specific loot. The Stick of Truth is the game for which every fan of the show has been waiting for years. A script written by the most twisted minds of Comedy Central matched with experienced developers from Obsidian created the most honest adaptation anyone could have hoped for.
