Elden Ring is a third-person perspective action RPG set in a dark fantasy world co-created by George R.R. Martin. Unlike previous Souls-like games from FromSoftware, Elden Ring features an open world you're invited and encouraged to explore at your own pace.

Elden Ring is available on five platforms: PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, as well as Xbox One and Series X/S. However, its online features do not allow for cross-platform multiplayer.

To use incantations, you require a weapon from the Sacred Seals category as your catalyst. You will also need to invest heavily in Faith to bear the burden of Incantations' FP cost. You can memorize acquired spells in the bonfire menu using the "Memorize spell" option. Be mindful of attribute requirements for the spells you want to use and plan your progression accordingly.

Elden Ring takes place in a dark fantasy world, specifically in a region called the Lands Between.

Elden Ring is largely singleplayer, but it features several multiplayer options, including summoning players for help and PvP invasions. There is no full co-op available without using mods.

Accessing the content of the paid DLC "Shadow of the Erdtree" requires beating two of the base game's bosses: Radahn and Mohg. Once you do, you will be able to interact with an arm hanging out of the cocoon located where your battle against Mohg took place. "Touch the withered arm" to enter the DLC region, the Realm of Shadow.

In order to level up, you first need to find Melina and accept her as your maiden. You can make her come to you by resting at three different sites of grace in the open world. Once you have Melina’s help, you will be able to trade Runes (acquired largely by defeating enemies) to level up and increase your attributes.

A main story-focused run could take about 60 hours, while a completionist run could take twice as much. It is all dependent on your skills and playstyle, however.

Elden Ring is about a person known as one of the Tarnished, called to the Lands Between and given a quest to reform the shattered Elden Ring and claim the position of an Elden Lord. Much of the plot is left for the player to figure out by connecting the dots.

Unfortunately, Elden Ring is not available on Nintendo Switch at the time of writing.

Difficulty is subjective, but there are plenty of bosses and mini-bosses that may require multiple attempts. There are methods of making certain fights easier, and Elden Ring’s open world structure allows more flexibility in taking on its challenges than other FromSoftware games.

In terms of game size on disc, Elden Ring in its base form requires 60 GB of available space. Geographically, the base ER’s map has an area of approximately 30 square miles.
